Matt Valen Designs

Altered State is a conceptual exhibition design for Trajan’s Market in Rome, Italy. It is an innovative temporary exhibition illustrating the life of Napoleon Bonaparte and his relations to Roman antiquity in the Trajan’s Market museum. Historical displays are modernized through the use of contemporary concepts and engaging, interactive systems as requested by the curator of the exhibition. This concept was created by a team of four design students, two Interior Design and two Graphic Design.

In Fall 2020, the curator at the Trajan’s Market museum used elements from this proposal to create an interactive exhibition. Also in 2020, this design won a Bronze Award from the International Design Awards.
